anyway, i've just finished my palliative care rotation, could be more better, but finals is near, couldnt really get much out of it. WAsted:( i think its my only Palliative rotation in my LIFE!

i cant see myself talking to patients who are going to die, and i cant see myself in this kinda place. so.. yeah.

Lake District, is located in the Northwest of England.

Eeeeeeee So pretty!

The breathtaking scenery,

the serenity,

the challenging paths up the mountain peaks and

of course the lakes, the calm water....

We went to Windermere Lake, which is at the centre of Lake district.

The cycling route we took was from Windermere Train station, across the lake using the ferry, towards Hawkshead and back.

4 1/2 hour cycling route, slow pace :D

Troy, AiAi, Ching Li, Betsy, Hui Lin, Li Shan.

All ready for the 4 and a half hour Cycling excursion!

19 pounds for a day-ride bicycle including protective gear...

Quite a reasonable price, considering that its a tourist attraction anyways..

9am today, I was to go to Parkwood, which is the Psychiatry Unit in the Hospital.

I arrived there, and asked the reception the direction to the CRISIS Team Office room.

I remembered the direction that was given by this cute young lad, BUT don't know why I went through the WRONG double doors, and ended up in a SmALL corridor with no one, it was quiet.. plus it was REALLY WARM there, feeling trapped suddenly I felt my chest tightened, I could not get air into my lungs.. Terrible feeling, like I could'nt breathe :( AND I didn't bring my Inhaler... I mean, I don't usually bring it with me!

Anyways, I went out of the corridor towards the reception again, and after that managed to get to the right place. I was still suffering the chest tightness, lasted for about half an hour.

Differential Diagnosis Acute Asthma secondary to 1. Panic Attack, 2. Claustrophobic, 3. Sudden change in temperature.

Psychiatry Crisis Home Management Team was quite good. But the patients I saw in their homes today were quite normal, just mild depression, in which to my opinion is just exaggerated.

Stop prescribing antidepressants in this country!

Malaysian culture :) ... there were also some touching moments that can make u cry .. and surprisingly, Romance too!

so, well done! but the bad side is only Malaysian, specifically Malaysian Chinese people.. can actually understand the jokes. recommended by me to watch with your friends or family ;)

Today's the END of my 12-week MEDICINE rotation :(

HEART

MEDICINE!

2 weeks of Acute Med, Elderly Care, Respiratory, and Endocrine

1 week of Gastro, Stroke, Cardiology, and Dermatology/Rheumatology.

Best one I had was Acute Med in CDU. It was before Christmas holidays and I was in the hospital wards day and night, it was so fun! dont know what's fun but.. yeah... it was 2 crazy weeks. I think its because of one of the consultants there who was really nice and good-looking ( like some Bollywood superstar! ) was keen in teaching us during the ward rounds. And also the other doctors, really really lovely people! Gosh, i was that enthusiastic. It does make a difference in my life, makes me really wanna be an a&e specialist, surgery or medicine ! :P

The rest of the rotations were quite dull, going to the wards and clerking a specific history to be signed of in my portfolio. blablabla.... balblabla...

Ended my rotation with a 3-hour clinic in Rheumatology CLinic today! Which was AMAZING. Ze best clinic I ever had. Intense and so much to see! Saw patients with long standing Rheumatoid Athritis, patients with Sjogren's, patients with OsteoAthritis with the Herberden and Bouchard's nodes, also seronegative inflammatory athritis, psoriatic athritis, and enteropathic ones. gosh ....and the Reg was superrr efficient and knowledgable. hmm!

Dermatology was quite fun as well, but quite dull after a while, just get to see rashes all day long, but its easy peasy. The consultant I was with was a gadjet freak although he's like in his 50s.. He had his Ipod playing classical music on his portable speaker, softly while his clinic was running, his room was light up with lamps, yellow light, soothing room. He had his iphone for us to meddle with to find information about skin diseases, also his tablet laptop. okok enough. Oh, and precious fountain pens, in which he can spend 65 pounds each! how rich a dermatologist is! :D

Ok.. urmmm.... Cardiolody was quite fun, Got to know more about ECGs :) Stroke week was one of my favourites too...love Neuro. :)

Ok lah, I found the rest of the weeks quite boring :P

Conclusion, i Don't like Geriatrics Medicine :(

Helloyellow, it's been a long long time(again). I have always wanted to blog at least a post everyday since the day i started my blog, but i never did. well, best reason is because im too lazy to write. hee. i am just not born to write ok?!!! and i hate it :( if only i could write and draw beautifully. then i'll be able to express my feelings more. but oh well.. .. i can sing and dance at least....not too good, but enough to make me feel happy. :)

Things have been great so far. Going to the Blackpool Hospital and back to my flat(in the hospital) everyday for the past urmm..lets seee... 3 months? yeah, its been quite boring here, town is too far for me to go to often, so i always end up staying home. its cold anyway. prefer watching series (Grey's anatomy, Heroes, House, Vampire's diaries, Melrose's Place, Glee, American next top model), prefer dancing in my room (syok sendiri) , prefer playing my keyboard singing along my favourite tunes, prefer playing the guitar......urmm,, my dream of becoming a singer still exists!!! i wont stop believing it will come true .. but first.. i would want to compose my own songs! will let u listen to it soon. soon.. or maybe x-factor 2010 for me? haha!

ah... oh my gawd oh my gawd, 3 months of my 4th year in medical school has passed, time flies ... like really flies this 3 months.. flying like noone's business.. dont even know what i've donee.. and i have 7 months more to my finals, in which i should... or almost be an eligible doctor. this is my finals and my only finals, i want and will pass it!! i don't care! i dont care! thing is, my o&g and Surgical rotation 12 weeks, just finished it...... but I'm still finding it difficult to absorb every single thing that has been taught (of course la duhh I'm not superhuman). i have read and read but after a few days, I'm lost again. maybe i just need to buck up and read like 'gila' everyday consistently. but laziness just somehow takes over me! hate it laa.. why does laziness even exist? tell me why?! my next 12 week rotation is medicine! can't wait for it, wonder how's it gonna be. though the timetable seems abit screwed up and weird like there's only ward rounds and case discussions in the timetable. is it all? i hate PBL somehow. it is not beneficial nor interesting to begin with. stupid liverpool and their PBL system.

YAY YAY! A months time to Christmas holiday! i wanna go back home. i miss my family so so much and everyone back home. i miss Malaysia. i heart Malaysia. bro has gone back for 2 weeks, his annual leave. miss him already.. :( hmm..wonder hows everything back home.. hope everything is fine. but only 2 weeks of Christmas holiday, its too expensive to go back home, sigh.. 2 weeks is too short. i will be just travelling in the UK.... maybe Glasgow? Edinburgh? Manchester? oh and London for Christmas :) and new years 2010 in Edinburgh where i will gather with everyone else.. !

I just came back from Manchester 2 hours ago. wanted to get some Kebab. but did'nt see any kebab shops on the way. argh. it was raining and cold. couldnt be bothered 'bout my tummy. now, am here, just gobbled up my tuna sandwich, sipping my hot chocolate, and writing... im so happy! :) listening to Bigger by Backstreetboys, dont ask me why, its in my playlist of new songs. its their new album! lots of new albums are out.. even Susan boyle, this year's Britain's got Talent runner up. the lady who had gotten everyone in Britain's attention by her mesmerizing voice singing 'I dreamed a dream' . to be honest, i don't see it.

Its really nice actually. just that the town is abit far from where the hospital is, which is where im staying. I am staying at a hospital accommodation ! so weird! but its fine...it's cheap though! ;X

Liverpool ORIENTAL SINGING CONTEST 2009

organized by the Hongkong Society.
Held on 20th March 2009.

I went thru the auditions before that, in which i sang 'Umbrella' acoustic version with my guitar. :) don't know whether there were a few people who participated or maybe i was quite good to go thru the auditions, cos i did'nt do that well, kept playing the wrong chords!
8 people went through the auditions.. ta-da!

all i know .. there's 3 malaysians:D , and some hongkong(hongkies) and chinese .. not sure.

who are also students of course. The guy is Wan Phin from Malaysian Society, the girl in the middle is from Hk society, and the girl at the end if from China, and she is studying music or something.

Contestant No.1 is Fifa Safar , from Malaysia! She sang Destiny by Jim Brickman.
She was quite good i must say. go Malaysia!:D

Contestant No.2 is Heidi Yue, her song was quite dull, or maybe because its a chinese song, and i dont listen to many chinese songs. but there were no high and low pitches in her song.

Contestant No.4 Jayson Lau, had a really good voice, well controlled. But lack of personality i think.:) cos i forgotten about him after a while. haha i'm the judge in my blog! shh!! weee...

Contestant No.5, Jay Murong, he has an artist's name and he looks abit like a superstar.. like a Chinese superstar. he is from China by the way.
he is good :)

Contestant No.6, CiCi Ren. Who is the CHAMPION of the night. Can't say much about her, later i get whacked! but shh... i thought she was quite bad at first. but lots of people said she is quite good.... hm.. maybe i really don't know how to judge chinese songs... :(

5th year medical student from IMU as well! :D
He sang Broken Vow by Josh Groban.
He had the opera kind of voice which sounded like Josh Groban. He said the judges told him he lost to the champion because of his outfit ( no black coat on ). wat the... He got SECOND! I would much prefer him to take the crown..

Contestant No.8, Sonia Li.
She is quite pretty :)
and she sang When you believe by Mariah Carey. pretty hard song to sing.
She managed the first part of the song PERFECTLY. the tone of her voice was brillliant! but when it got to the high pitch part.. she was not powerful enough to pull off that song. sorry. She won FAVOURITE CONTESTANT by votings from the audience!

CHING LI LEE! .. Contestant No.3!
She sang Before he Cheats by Carrie Underwoods.

I thought i was gonna embarass myself on stage. but lucky thing, everyone complimented me!:)
How i chosed this song? ... i scrolled through my karaoke playlist, and then picked up a few songs to sing with. And this song really made me feel good. i didn't wanna sing a slow song anyway. don't have a voice that can sing that type of slow powerful songs.
The song i chose actually needed a much more powerful voice, with the loud music in the background ... Lucky the mic was loud, so it makes my voice sound much louder! :)
But after i watched my own video.. i dont like my voice la:( so pitchy!!!!! practise more girl...!

Milano, Italia 20 - 23.02.09

Hey guys, every time i post up something new i will be saying the same thing "i am so lazy to blog" :D but this time i will be telling u about my MILAN trip!
my weekend trip after formatives. thought we could get a break from our books. buhHh!

Sharmaine and I in the bus heading from Bergamo airport, Milan to Stazione Centrale (central station). have to take picture in the bus of course! kiss kiss!

before finding a taxi to our hostel, we were too hungry. i was so hungry aka hypoglycaemic ! wanted to drop dead.. our last meal was at lunch time 2pm. and when we reached it was about 9pm! have to makan makan.
so we stopped by this restaurant, looks like a food court in which u have to self-order many types of pastas and they have rice as well, and i saw some curry chicken there. nyam nyam! but i should eat something italiano.

Makan time!

We reached our hostel at 10.30pm. everyone exhausted from the journey. we splitted into 2 rooms, 6 person (4 girls 2 guys) and 4 person(4 guys). shh we did something naughty, we booked 9 person. :P so 3 girls had to share a double-sized bed.

Our first walk out to the streets of Milano! this is Corso Marzo street.

we went to eat Gelato, the Italian famous ice cream! This one here tasted like raspberry. There is crazily alot of flavours. theres Chocolate, coconut, coffee, melone, lemon, mint, peach, pistachio, strawberry, banana, hazelnut, kiwi etc.. BEST!

First day Saturday 21/2/09 Ate breakfast in BarLei Cafe, right next to our hostel, in which we have already paid for the breakfast included in the hostel rent. i was hoping for an italian breakfast buffet with ham, sausages, eggs.. HMPH! and look what we've got. ....

ONE CROISSANT and ONE CAPPUCINO. but ...
SEDAP oh! loved it! will start eating some croissants now... :D

and then our journey to visit Milanzzz!

We walked to the city centre for 30 minutes... thought we could see the streets of Milan...

Saw some beautiful churches and monuments.. left Piazza Giornate, right Santa Maria del Suffragio..

and then to the awaited DUOMO...

DUOMO, 1386 the 3rd largest cathedral in the world, and took 500 years to build it!

it is really beautiful, with the really fine skilled architecture.. i wonder how they built it with the little technology in the past.

but in to get to the roof top, we had to pay 5 Euros for the stairs and 8 Euros to use the lift. noway i'm gonna take the lift, so sien.... and also more ex.:P

so we walked up 200 steps! it was like a never-ending spiral staircase. felt dizzy when i reached the top.
Think Yang kifi would like it. right yang? :)

and then another flight of stairs the the very top top top! scared!!! i hate heights... why am i so afraid of heights all of a sudden?... i remembered it did not bother me at all when I was little *SIGH*

Went for the tour inside the stadium for 10 Euros.. quite worth it i would say.. the seats are coloured.. Inter Milan's fans are to sit at the left which have green seats. AC milan's fans are to sit at the right with the blue-coloured seats. so funny. 2 clubs sharing one stadium. VIPS were in a shaded area in the middle with white seats..

Next day... SUNDAY 22/2/09 GOOD MORNING! we woke up abit later than we thought we should. great... wasting time! cannot! Took the train to Corso Magenta. one of the oldest street in Milan.. where they said to go.. but turns out... nothing also! at least we saw the church with Leonardo da Vinci's last supper painting!

Santa Maria delle Grazie. The famous church because they display "The Last Supper". but u know what... u have to book at least 2 weeks in advanced to get to see the paintings..

i knew about it... but forgot to ask the rest.. whether to book it or not... damn! stupid me! once inside u only get to look at the painting for 15 minutes! and for quite an expensive price.. hmm...

Stopped at an archaeology museum... 1 Euro only.. good to know some histories of Milan.

behind this castle is a huge park called Parco Sempione... it was a spot where they had military training in the past.

Our last dinner.... wanted to try the japanese restaurant near our hostel.

We tried Japanese food in MILAN!

the waitress was talking to us in Japanese.. then Italian.. all of us blur... and then half way thru taking orders...she asked us where are from.. and we answered Malaysia. and she suddenly spoke mandarin... !!! haha! all of us super shock and relieve because we could speak something that is familiar.. aiyo.. we had so much trouble talking in sign language. haha!

6. I went with 10 people. and i thought it would be tough! but no! it was so much fun:) love u guys!

and it was planned 2 weeks plus ago. i think.
We could'nt get a good priced ticket to anywhere during Easter, so we decided to go for a trip during the weekends after our formatives exam!
Dad & mum, dont worry k, will take care of meself.
There are 9 other friends goin' with me, a big group though, but it will be fun!
After which I will start studying for my real exam in June. Promise!

After Christmas - Vienna

Wien(Vienna), Austria - about -4degree Celcius.
The city of art, music, theatre, and opera.

We arrived here by a minivan, which I hired through the internet. costs, 31pounds each.
So much more worth if we were to get a train ticket, which will costs about 50 pounds each.

The famous Wien Sacher torte(Chocolate cake) 5 pounds for a piece! simply irresistable...

But they're so stylish!

This is inside the huge Hofburg Palace,
where currently is home to the President of Vienna. It belonged to rulers of Vienna long time ago.

where Orchestras and Operas are being held here daily, with different set of songs everyday!
Different songs daily!... wonder how they practice... wonder how many orchestra teams are there...

Hehe, and we went to watch a quartet at night. YAY! costs 25EUROS for students.

It was held at ''Mozart House'', which is the oldest concert hall in Vienna where Mozart used to work and play for a Bishop.
The walls of the little room were decorated with floral paintings. so pretty. sigh i wish i was one of the violinist :D only Han Ying knows how to play violin in our group. hmph! jealous!

The quartet were brilliant. Especially the first violin player, Lucy Hall. She had the skill and also the charm, she played with so much expression, that i think everyone was only staring at her.

They played the works of
Mozart's including
The Allegro di Molto in Dmajor, Presto, and Andante.
J.S.Bach - his famous 'AIR'. so perfect.... I wanted to cry when this song was played. ;~~
etcetc.

The 2nd day in Vienna, we visited Schonbrunn Palace.
The home of the Habsburg during summer ,powerful rulers of Vienna long ago:)

So cold that the pond became ICE! the surface at least.... so we tried to break thru it. heeee...

Me and Han Ying went to visit the so-called fun ''House of Music''. But we didnt manage to play much at the end cause of time restriction , so sad...

I manage to conduct an orchestra though! I think maybe its from Wii. lol. so fun.
all i can say is dont come to this place, if u have no interest in Music.

We went to another performance on the 2nd night! kena conned into watching it kinda. We should have watched the opera performance in Staats Opera Haus.
The Quartet here was ok, i didnt have much fun watching here. No expression one!
But lucky there were opera singing, and ballet performances as well..:)

Jiun bought a shoe for 7 pounds, and the base of the shoes came off the next day... =.= cheaters..

Nyam nyam! All sorts of food were sold here as well, like kebabs, sausages, Strudels, and really huge plain bread.. for a reasonable price!

Vienna... the city within the ring, because much of their attractions and shopping streets are located within a small region.. and there are trams which takes us along the circumference of the ring..
I love Vienna because of its Culture.. *dreams of becoming an artist*

Hey ya, it's been a long while since i posted anything up. I am so lazy to upload photos.. and also with the busy holidays, and the last-minute work on my Critical Thinking Module which is finally done! Now i'm free, i feel so light, not having anything to do in a rush. Electives forms sent to Malaysia, and to Singapore, i have to wait for my health insurance to be done first. mm... CHRISTMAS VACATION IN
PRAGUE, Czech Republic.

23rd December 2008 - Flight from Newcastle to Prague.

It was already night time when we reached our hostel. oh and when we were trying to find our hostel, we randomly asked this group of ppl which so happened to be Malaysians! what are the coincidence.!!! great.
Anyway we had nothing to do but to just walk around the town, looking at the christmas decorations which was lovely!
We stayed at Hostel A plus (www.aplus-hostel.cz)

I would recommend this place if u'planing to go to Prague, but the other hostels might be good as well. but its alright here. 3 days 2 nights - 16 pounds, worth it ey. and its about 5-10 mins walk from the Old Town Square, which is where it is the most happening lah.

On the 1st day 24th of December, CHRISTMAS EVE !!! Most of the tourist spot were closed:(

Visit to OLD TOWN, and NEW TOWN and CHARLES BRIDGE.
It was the beautiful buildings that we admired.

The Astronomical Clock.

It is the clock of all times, because it shows everything except the time.it shows the month, n the position of the sun and moon.

It will portray some weird movements hourly; like weird sculptures moving in a circle, and a skeleton somewhere will shake, or something like that. Not sure what it really means.

and the maker of this clock got blinded, cos the king didnt want the maker to make another clock. selfish guy.

There will be a huge crowd every hour in front of this clock, funny. There is a clock at the tower of this building by the way.

This is CHARLES BRIDGE,

the famous historical bridge that crosses the Vltava River with 30, mostly baroque statues and statuaries at the sides of the bridge.
It was so over-crowded with tourists during winter!! i wonder what its like in SUMMER!
and it was under construction. apa ni! But it was pretty. Love it. with the statues and all.

This is most famous statue at the bridge. It is called ''St John of Nepomuk''.
And if u touch this statue, it will bring u good luck! haha. as u can see, the bottom part of this statue.. its like shiny.. cos of everyone's touch!

SO Beautiful.

and I think, it is so beautiful, that it is everyone's favourite destination. and because of that, it is ridiculously over-crowded with tourists, from all over. We don't see much Czech people on the streets, but more Asian and British people. Only in souvenir shops do we see them, and oh my, they are not that friendly, sometimes can even scold u if u come to their shop and leave without buying anything. But ... it was worth coming here. :)
