Mars Bar!

Today was my first day in Walton Hospital. The first 1 hour, Stephanie and I had to clerk a patient, taking her history and doing relevant examination on her. This patient that we did just finished a surgery, called Transphenoidal Excision Surgery. This surgery was to remove her pituitary Macroadenoma, which was compressing on her optic chiasma. And obviously, she had vision problems. Her vision field was very small, and it is called a Bitemporal Hemianopia. I studied all these already!! so it was quite interesting for me to see a real case.
I had no confident on presenting this case though, so Steph presented it.

After that we had this 1 hour case discussion with a neurologist specialist. which was great..!
talked about Coma and Acute Severe Headache. There were only 4 people in that class. I got to answer the anatomy questions, was quite proud of myself. haha. Studying last night actually helped me alot!

We had lunch. I sat with these bunch of people. But felt abit weird, like i couldn't really talk. Until Stephanie asked me why was i so quiet. lol. it just seems different la, not talking to Malaysians. :(
hopefully i can blend in better soon.....

ok lah.
bye.
tired.

good 4 u- to mix with others and not only Malaysians. Treat them like Malaysians - I'm sure you'll be fine.

Nice to do some clinical co-relation with theoritical knowledge. It makes you a good sensible clinician with deeper understanding of pathological conditions. I enjoyed my clinical years because i could apply what i learnt earlier and it made medicine really interesting. Study all your clinical cases in depth and do the presentations with confidence. don't be afraid to make mistakes now. Better now than next time... it will all add to your becoming a great doctor....
Take care of your health. Dad luv.
